Carmen Jaime, Palma de Mallorca.
Carmen began her musical career in 1990, when she formed the rock band LOCAL-8, in Palma. Years later, more focused on the blues, she decided to devote her time entirely to music, appearing with well known bands such as TOO MUCH MORROW and BLUES DEVILS (FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE BLUES REBEL ’95) as well as various projects with majorcan and international musicians.
She was often collaborated with the VÍCTOR URIS BAND, including sharing the stage at the MAREMAGNUM in Barcelona, TEATRE DEL MAR, 1999 SANT SEBASTIÀ FIESTAS, SA POBLA JAZZ FESTIVAL, even opening for VAN MORRISON at the AUDITORIUM in Palma.
As a result of her musical tastes and influences, she was soon adding jazz standards to her repertoire. Since then, Carmen has collaborated with many of the respected jazz musicians of Mallorca, such as Richard Vinton, with whom she appeared regularly for three years at the notable jazz club BAR BARCELONA in Palma. She was invited to participate at the CALA RAJADA JAZZ FESTIVAL in ’97, ’98 and 2000, and the MANACOR JAZZ FESTIVAL in ’98 and ’99.
She’s very active in the current jazz scene in Mallorca, with different formations (some “regular appaearences”, some “one time only”) from the intimacy of the duo to large orchestra, from small clubs to the big stage. She performed with the PALMA JAZZ QUARTET (GEOFF FROSSELL) at the grand opening of JAZZ BABALU in Ca’n Pastilla.
